The Web Meetup
The meetup for people that work on The Web, with an emphasis on cross-discipline, collaboration and community.
Do you work on the Web? Do you create content or code, work on user experience or process?
The likelihood is you have a passion for a single discipline – but collaboration with other people working in different areas of The Web is how we can bring about larger change to the way people use The Internet, and how we work together.
The Web Meetup will bring together people from differing backgrounds to talk about all things Web. UX and UI, Front end Development, User Research, even the way we work. The different perspectives in the spotlight each month will help us all grow and learn more about what we do and how we can work with one another to produce a better product.
As a part of the three-speaker lineup for the May meetup, our Director of Accessible Technologies, Adem Cifcioglu, will be presenting on ‘Accessibility beyond the screen’.
For a long time, when we thought about accessibility, the first thing to come to mind was the Screen Reader on a computer.
With the proliferation of voice based products, (Google Home, Amazon echo, Siri and Cortana), warable technology, beacons, and even smart phones, that is starting to change.
In this presentation, we’ll look at all things accessibility beyond the traditional screen.
