The Assistive Technology Survey 2025 is now live!

At Intopia, we know the importance of listening to lived experiences to drive real change, and that’s why we’re excited to announce the launch of the Assistive Technology Survey 2025.

This study is designed to capture how Australians and New Zealanders use, access and experience assistive technology. We’re proud to launch the survey today in recognition of International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) to celebrate inclusion and amplify the voices of people with disability.

The Assistive Technology Survey is in its third year and it’s the first and only survey of its kind. Our aim is to build a robust evidence base to help inform policy, product design and accessibility innovation across Australia and New Zealand.

These insights will fill a critical gap in global research, which has often overlooked local experiences. For over a decade, studies like the WebAIM Screen Reader Survey have been an invaluable resource for improving accessibility worldwide. Yet, fewer than 5% of respondents have come from Australia or New Zealand. Our survey aims to change that by focusing on local experiences and providing data that drives better accessibility decisions.

The aim of the Assistive Technology Survey 2025

  • What assistive technologies and adaptive strategies people use
  • Which devices and browsers are most popular
  • What the online experience is like for assistive technology users

Who should take part in the Assistive Technology Survey 2025

We are seeking responses from anyone in Australia or New Zealand, aged 18 or over, who utilise assistive technology or adaptive strategies to make their devices easier to use.

This may include:

  • People with disability who use assistive technology in any form, from mobility aids to screen readers

  • Older Australians who use technology to support independence or wellbeing

  • Allied health professionals, educators and support workers involved in assistive technology selection, funding or use

To be eligible to take part, you need to

  • Live in Australia or New Zealand
  • Be over 18 years of age

Survey opens today, Wednesday 3 December and closes Friday 6 February 2026.
